Week 14

The Commissioner’s Report, Week 14:

Gents, I gotta say yesterday was one of the more thrilling ends to a regular season, and for all the wrong reasons. As the League recovers from Breidagate and the Wan’Dale Game, 6 degens will prepare to do battle for the glory of the LOD Championship. TCR will conclude with the regular season with the holiday travel period coming, but stay tuned for upcoming content from me and the Blogger Boyz. So for one last time this season…

Commish’s Analysis:

Week 14 had plenty of fireworks. Ignoring the circumstances behind it for now, Nauch’s team clutched up in the final week to not only spoil Chuck’s engagement game, but snag the final bye week after finishing the season on 4 game win streak to do so. This is Nauch’s best finish since his ill-fated 2020 Frauch campaign, but there’s no question this time, his team is legit.

While Chuck couldn’t hit win 11, he had plenty to celebrate off the field with his long-anticipated engagement to Jess. Congrats again man. Both him and Nauch will get to enjoy a nice break to watch the carnage of round 1.

Wings, after a massive implosion by his team versus the second-worst team in the League, finds himself in the worst possible situation now having to play the first round. With four consecutive seasons of a first round exit, it was not what the team wanted at all, but being able to play his rival in round 1 will definitely help boost morale considering the current win streak he has.

Gio, after a tough back half of the season in which he coughed up his League lead, might be getting hot at the perfect time, ending on 2 straight wins and a 190-point stomping of Ryan. He arguably has the toughest road to the final this year, but has been in this spot before.

Joe, with the spotlight fixed on the other midoff of the week, quietly lost his final game in a close contest versus Bryan. While he did miss his chance to draw the 6 seed, his bigger challenge this week will be to find a QB to fill in Big Herb who has been shut down for the season.

Erik, after a difficult season enduring some brutal losses and leading the League in PA, was able to make the miracle comeback from 2-5 to…. 6-8… which was good enough to get him in on a tiebreaker between IRyan and Brycouldn’twinshit. All that matters is making the dance, and now you get a date with your biggest rival to prove you belong.

Round 1:

Gio vs Joe: This is the third meeting of these two in the playoffs, with previous matchups bringing us great moments like the Amari Cooper game in 2018 and Darren Waller in 2020. With them splitting these previous two matchups, I’m hoping for another thriller. The winner of this matchup will go on to face Chuck, which gives both teams even more to fight for.

Prediction: Joe finds a QB to start for this game

Wings vs Erik: In what was the most unexpected draw of the playoff bracket. Wings finds himself going for round 3 versus his biggest rival. Both of these players have chips on their shoulders; Wings looking to sniff the Semis for the first time since 2018 and Erik looking to snap his losing streak versus wings going back to the 2020 season. While the two regular season matchups were both blowouts in Wings’ favor, it’s a clean slate now and both teams will need to bring their A-game to earn the right to play Nauch on Christmas.

Prediction: Somebody’s getting stabbed, with a flesh knife( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
