Week 6

The Commissioner’s Report, Week 6:

Better late than never, eh? No excuses about being busy with work/life, the show must go on and Bryan really wanted me to share the essay he wrote for his post-game interview. Keeping it short and sweet this week. Let’s ball.

Commish’s Analysis

Bryan finally broke through to have a top 3 performance this week and the only team able to crack 200 in an otherwise pretty down week, this was the lowest-scoring week since week 1. While there seems to be a trend towards this being a higher-scoring season, looking at raw points scored at this point in the season, it may be too soon to draw conclusions.

While average score is pretty in-line with previous season, Ant’s tank-a-thon definitely contributes a lot to this, with only Joe’s previous season effort out-doing it in pure stink (think I’ll bookmark a tanking deep dive for when I got more time, I call dibs blogger boys). Looking at 800+ PF scorers only, this season’s teams are currently averaging 972 which would be good for second-best in the period.

Moving to updates in the standings, my jinx from last week’s TCR worked to near-perfection for Gio, who finally had a bad week for him in a loss to the League’s highest scorer while he himself only made seventh. Despite this, he still enjoys a 1-game lead for top seed and a 1-point lead in the commissioner’s cup. Looking at hypothetical past commissioner’s cups, Gio finds himself in a familiar position at this point in the 2020 season.

In 2020, Gio’s team found itself with a 3-3 record, but the best PF and therefore a very narrow lead in the hypothetical CC. He’d commence on a 7-0 streak to end the season, averaging 193 points per matchup and completely demolishing the CC as well as earning first seed to an eventual Championship. Idk if I’d call that Mickey Mouse but let’s see if Gio can capture similar magic in an already-dominant season or befall the same fate as Wings last year.

One final thing to note on the Commish Cup. The Week 6 leader (or tied for lead) would only go onto win in 2020 and 2021. In 2019, Erik was holding second and, more impressively, Chuck held third place with a 10-point deficit before coming back. Never say never!

Postgame Interviews

BRYAN (P1)

Bryan! LODSPN here. What an absolutely great week from your squad to finally make a top 3 while taking down the 5-0 team in the process. Talk me through how this weekend went for you

*dear reader, please put this video on before continuing*

“I first would like to extend my best wishes to all, even my haters and the losers, on this very special day, Monday, October 16th, my highest scoring week of my LOD tenure so far.

My sophomore season has been about making big moves and even bigger statements. With my matchup against my fellow fade lord Gio, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to remind this league of who I am, what I’m about, and why I was selected to join the league.

The chef’s been working hard in the kitchen, meticulously measuring his ingredients (players), planning his 4 course dinner (lineup), and he’s finally ready to wine and dine the rest of the league before fucking the living daylights out of them.

Get ready because you’re all going to be more ran through than Erik in college.”

CHUCK (P2)

Happy to be talking to you again after making it back to the top 3. Last time we talked was week 2 when you were 2-0. Where’s your head at after the last couple of weeks

“If you don’t believe in yourself how will somebody else believe in you?”

On Disney’s 100 year anniversary is there anything you want to say to your ol’ pal Mickey?

“I will not answer any more questions unless you address me, ‘Coach Prime.'”

Well you have to call me nighthawk

“I never wear the same shoes twice”

WINGS (P3)

You can bring back Chane for the seventeenth time, fine. You can call yourself Chuck Prime which I’m pretty sure is a cut of meat, fine. But to try and steal Steve Austin from me? You’ve gone too far this time. I’m coming at you with the force of the great Empire of the Sun God to make sure your precious Dolphins are no more
