Week 3

Week 3

The Commissioner’s Report, Week 3:

A bit late but here we are! Had such a busy week at work that getting Jason Luv’d by the defending champ feels like an eternity ago. Hennyways… week 3 was fun af if you weren’t me, Ant or Nauch. Lots of scoring, trash talk, and hard Rs were to be had Sunday, and Monday night’s double feature made for some great action.

Commish’s Takes

Jeez louise this week was bonkers. The benchwarming duo of Tua and Kirk finally made their starts and are looking to routinely drop 60 every week for the rest of time (along with J-Herbo). This was the second-highest scoring week of the sleeper era (the record currently is held by Week 5 2021, which had an insanely high average score of 186.99. Which, may not be unbeatable now.. still think this is gonna be a tough one to break)

The top three scorers included Gio and Ryan, who were business as usual, as well as a huge surprise from Roberto on Monday night to not only rocket to P2, but hand Chuck his first L of the season and knock him out of first place in the playoff and commish cup standings. Chuck in general had his worst week in this young season with a P5 finish, right behind his brother Joe who, for now, seems to have shaken off the yips from week 1.

Overall, it’s looking like 4 teams are separating themselves as early contenders. With Rob TBD if he can catch and keep up with them or fall into the next tier, which I’m currently calling mid-city.

Of the mid teams, both Erik and Bryan had the benefit of lining up against even more mid squads to at least get a win and best-scoring weeks of the season so far. A positive trend if any and keeps their hopes alive for a productive season. The next tier, I cannot say as much as I don’t know what to make of them yet.

While Nauch also had his highest-scoring week, but could not get him a win nor higher than P8 in an offense-heavy week. I know I buried the nickname but if this trend continues I might need to get a shovel.  As for my team, I’ll still give them the benefit of the doubt cause they showed potential week 2, but it ain’t looking good and a rebuild may be coming in the future.

I quipped last week that Ant would need to make it out of the single digits for this week to be a dub. Halfway there! (LODSPN had erroneously printed earlier this week that he had 10 points, the intern responsible has since been fired).

Postgame Interviews

RYAN (P1)

How's it feel to be the best of week 3? Your first time at the top this season.

[the next morning]

“ Sorry I knocked out before the end of the game lol

It feels great. I’m really hoping I can keep this going as long as I can”

ROB (P2)

How’s it feel to see your Bengals bounce back?

[see voice memo in chat]

Great message to send to those doubting you in the league and the media. Do you feel as though you put Cassidy in his place after handing him his first loss?

“Yes especially after his visit to my own home.  I HAD TO SHOW THAT GRINGO”

You can’t spell respect without a hard R. You’ll be facing 3-0 Gio next week, anything you want to let him know?

Yea… Don’t ask permission just ask forgiveness

GIO (P3)

Great week and you hang on to a top 3 besides Rob’s shenanigans. Everything go as expected for you this week?

“It’s a weird feeling, I came into this season thinking I’ve lost a step. But I’m like lebron in year 20, the numbers continue to show. Looking like another smooth sail to playoffs for the champ“

Speaking of Rob, he looks to ride this momentum to a showdown next week versus you. He’d definitely be your biggest challenge so far, any chance you think you drop a game?

“Game recognizes game, I know he’s my toughest test and I expect it to be a shootout. Could go either way“
